Excellent content with numerous dictionaries and broad and detailed usage information on entries. The multiple lookup methods and cross-searching functions make this an invaluable resource for learning and daily use.

This app is one of the best - it doesnt bother you with ads and works seamlessly. The Cantonese and Mandarin pronunciation helps so much when Im traveling in between the two.

Fantastic. Basic is already great, with add-ons its amazing (I got them all--its worth it!) Huge and indispensable help with Mandarin, Cantonese, and Classical Chinese--the power of like 20 dictionaries at your fingertips! Five stars.

Fast and very easy to use.

Its a bit ridiculous that the in app purchases (like flash cards) are only enabled for 1 device ID. I spent about 30 dollars on in app purchases, and I would expect all my iOS devices that share the same App Store account to have access. I cant imagine I am the only person who occasionally uses multiple devices.

Really useful & easy to use

I study Mandarin. This app is fire: OCR, Flashcards, Dictionary, Docs, UX, handwriting...fire. All of it. I wish the voices were more natural, esp. when reading sentences. Sentence flashcards? Cant wait for that Kickstarter dictionary to show up. Still...fire. 5 stars. 5 fire stars.

Pleco is not only a great dictionary but combined with its numerous addons it becomes an amazing platform for learning Chinese. Flashcards, reader, handwriting recognition, stroke diagrams, and more, all in one app! Not only would each addon be extremely useful on its own, but they are all well integrated into the app as a whole. For example, adding new flashcards from within the reader is so fast and easy. I simply cannot recommend this app enough!

Best Chinese dictionary

This dictionary has everything, not just nouns or adjectives; it has relevant example sentences, definitions of parts of characters, traditional and simplified, pronunciations, combinations of words that are commonly spoken in China but would not be found in a textbook- its just fantastic. Also, the OCR is definitely worth the extra money. Technically you could use the Chinese handwritten stroke keyboard and write the character to look up in the dictionary, but when you have a full page of characters youve never seen before, the OCR is a blessing. Thank you so much for this amazing dictionary! Ill continue to spread the word to Chinese learners everywhere :)

My Chinese teacher made me get this app and I was like okay but me and my friends were looking for the dog character and we found it and something else we found a curse word it said: female dog then the real word. By far the best Chinese dictionary app, and language app in general, that Ive ever used. The Pleco team is responsive and keeps customers up-to-date on the developments of the app on their web forums. Whether youre beginning to study Mandarin or delving into classical studies, you will find this app indispensable. I only wish I had it sooner.

Does not have translation for "an pneis lol". Bad app

Ive owned a version of this all the way back to the late 90s, when I owned a Palm Device and lived in China, and it has only gotten better since. This is a lifesaver for getting around in-country as well as a valuable aid in learning Chinese. There is simply nothing else that compares that I have ever found.

I paid the $100 for the full package of tools, and I havent once regretted it. If you are serious about learning Chinese, this is an essential app. If you are looking for a Chinese dictionary, this is the best one.
